JR京都駅から徒歩5分ほどのところにあります。
表通りからは細い通路を奥へ入っていきます。昔は酒蔵だったのをリフォームして使っているそうです。1階は20席ほどのカウンター席と20人ほどが座れる小上がり、2階にも20人ほどが座れる座敷があります。2階の天井には大正三年に棟上げされた旨の墨書がみられます。
観光客風のお客さんは、ほとんど見られず、ほとんどがお馴染みさんのようです。特に午後6時以降は、満席になっていることが多く、できれば予約をしていった方がいいと思います。私も、予約なしで行って何度となく満席で入店を断られた経験があります。
通常のメニューのほかに、「本日のおすすめ」があり、その日に入荷した魚介類などが記されています。京都駅近くではリーズナブルな価格で、まあまあのお造りが食べられます。「リーズナブル」と書いたのは京都という土地での観光客用価格店に比べてということで、また、「まあまあ」と書いたのは、あくまでも京都でのレベルで、ということです。価格も新鮮さも、漁港近くと比べられるようなレベルでは、もちろん、ありません。まあ、仕方のないことでしょう。
仕事帰りに、とにかく寛いで、ゆっくり腰を下ろして、忌憚なく大声で語り合って楽しめるお店として、気に入っています。
