Founded in the Muromachi period, Yamakataya Juemon has a history of over 400 years, changing with the times. The taste and hospitality of Seta eel, which has been loved by travelers in this area on the shores of Lake Biwa and where Seta Kara Bridge spans, continues to this day.
Food Delicious large eel from Seta
It is said that the eel caught in this area of Seta, on the shores of Lake Biwa, was large, juicy, and extremely delicious. “Yamakataya Ujuemon” seasoned this eel with soy sauce and sake, grilled it, and sold it as “Seta Unagi.” Inheriting that tradition, our restaurant serves plump grilled eel with our original sauce.
