Our Agu has undergone DNA testing at the Okinawa Prefecture Livestock Improvement Association, and has been certified as a purebred Agu, which is a cross between the "Ryukyu native Agu" pigs. In addition, Okinawa Prefecture is promoting the ``2021 Okinawa Prefecture Pork Consumption Activity'' regarding the difference in taste between Agu, which is a cross between Western pigs that are widely eaten in Okinawa and Japan, and purebred Agu. Junketsu Agu received the highest rating in the taste and sensory evaluation of shabu shabu by chef Masayuki Okuda of ``Kagyo.''

At our store, you can enjoy the rare genuine purebred Agu that is a cross between the "Ryukyu native breed Agu", but the pigs commonly called "Agu" are the result of a male "Ryukyu native breed Agu" and a Western pig. In addition, pork called "Agu", which is expressed in hiragana, is a product registered as a trademark by JA (Okinawa Prefectural Agricultural Cooperative Association), and is a male native pig Agu and a female LW (half Landrace and half Great Yorkshire). There are two main types of Agu. Not all Agu sold in Okinawa are purebred or genuine Agu. Most of the Agu is 30% to 50% mixed with imported pigs.
