寛政5年(1793年)創業。江戸末期の浅草より敦賀へ菓子製造技術を持ち帰ったのが発端といわれています。寛政5年は大塩平八郎が誕生した年であり、海外ではベルサイユの薔薇の時代です。
京都で修行を積んだ7代目より京菓子の風を取り入れ、現在は大阪で修行を積んだ8代目が京らしさをテーマに新たな取組みをしております。全国各地のお茶席で長らくご愛願いただいております「求肥昆布」や「豆落雁」を筆頭に、「羽二重餅」など常に高品質なものを追求開発し、創り続けています。
