Food Singapore's representative dish [Hainanese chicken rice] (Hainanese chicken rice)
Hainanese chicken rice is Singapore's signature dish. Tender and moist steamed chicken with three different sauces. We use Jasmine rice, the highest quality Thai rice. Chicken rice is made by cooking jasmine rice in chicken soup. A fried chicken version is also available. The batter is crispy and perfect for Japanese people. We also have versions with a larger amount of meat, such as half a chicken or a whole chicken, so that everyone can eat together instead of just one person.
Food Bak Kut Teh, a Singaporean breakfast staple
Two types are said to have been introduced from Fujian and Chaozhou, and are still eaten in Singapore today. Both soups have pork ribs in them, but the Fujian version contains Chinese herbal medicine and has a dark brown soup, while the Teochew version has a clear soup with garlic and black pepper. It seems that bak kut cha is the first dish that people who are stationed in Singapore fall in love with. Even today, it continues to be a beloved breakfast staple for Singaporeans.
